# Board, Backlog and Timeline Three views over the same issues — what each is good at, how board columns define status, and the shortcuts that make them fast. They share the same filter state, so switching between them does not throw away what you had narrowed down. ## Board `g` then `k` . A Kanban board grouped by status by default. Drag a card between columns to change its status; the update is synchronized to connected teammates after server acceptance. **Columns are the team's status vocabulary.** Team admins configure names, icons and colours from column headers on the **Board**. Issues refer to those columns as statuses; the settings page does not contain the column editor. Renaming changes the display name, and reordering changes the layout; neither reassigns an issue's status. **Counts as done** makes a column count toward completion and progress. Configure a completion column if you rely on those measures. **Protect from deletion** prevents removing a column. The server also refuses deletion of the last column or one that still contains issues; move those issues first. ## Backlog `g` then `b` . A dense sortable table. This is the planning and triage view — everything at once, grouped and ordered how you want it. - Group by status, assignee, priority or project. - Sort from the title, priority or due-date column headers. - Use **View options** for the full ordering choices, including manual ordering. - `s` focuses search, `f` focuses the filter input, `f` `f` opens the full filter panel, `r` clears every filter. ## Display options Board, Backlog and My Issues share a **View options** panel. Switch between list and board while keeping the route's scope and filters. Group by status, assignee, priority or project; choose manual, priority, due-date, created-date, updated-date or title ordering. Non-manual ordering also offers ascending or descending direction. Choose the visible card properties or list columns, show/hide sub-issues and empty groups, and reset the view settings. Board-specific controls also expose hidden columns and card borders. Disabled chips marked “coming soon” are placeholders, not working controls. ## Creating from a group Use the **+** beside a group to open New issue with that group's status, assignee, priority or project prefilled. For example, creating from a populated project group selects that project. Empty-value groups use the form defaults. Review the fields before saving; this does not automatically copy every active filter into the new issue. ## Timeline `g` then `t` . A Gantt-style view with bars for date ranges and diamond markers for issues without a full range. An issue without start or due dates uses its creation date. Visibility also depends on the displayed period, filters and **Show issues**; an undated issue is not automatically excluded. Move through time with `[` and `]` , jump to today with `t` , and change the zoom with `w` (week), `m` (month), `q` (quarter) or `y` (year). ## My issues `g` then `b` gets you the whole backlog; **My issues** in the sidebar gets you the subset assigned to you, across projects. It carries the same filter and search behaviour as the Backlog. ## Projects `g` then `p` . Not a view over issues but over [projects](https://docs.orneos.com/docs/projects), with hierarchy and status. Each project has its own page with an issues tab and an overview tab. ## Personal tabs and favorites Star a fixed issue-view tab or a saved-view tab to add it to your sidebar Favorites. Hide or show custom saved-view tabs with the toggle beside them. These are personal navigation choices; see [Favorites and navigation](https://docs.orneos.com/docs/settings#favorites-and-navigation). ## Filter state is shared, and it is in the URL Narrow the Backlog, switch to the Board, and the narrowing comes with you. Filter state lives in the URL, which makes it linkable — send a colleague the same selection criteria; their team, permissions and available data determine which results they see. A refresh keeps your filters. Filter edits replace the current browser-history entry, so Back does not undo them one by one.
