Mode and theme are separate choices

Mode is light or dark. Theme is the palette. Every theme has both a light and a dark variant, so the two choices are independent — picking a theme does not force you into a mode.

Both live in Settings → Appearance, and the theme is also reachable from Spotlight if you would rather not leave the keyboard.

The themes

Theme	Character
Orneos	The product’s own identity, and the default. Matches this website.
Graphite	Neutral greys. The quietest option.
Cobalt	Cool blue accent.
Rose	Warm pink accent.
Classic	Conventional tracker colours.
Obsidian	High-contrast dark-leaning.
Nebula	Saturated, gradient-led.
Solarized	The Solarized palette.

Orneos is the default rather than an opt-in extra, on purpose: arriving from this website and meeting a differently-coloured product is a small but real “is this the same thing?” moment. If you chose a theme before Orneos became the default, you kept yours — the default only applies when nothing has been chosen.

Where your choice is stored

In your browser, not on your account.

That means it does not follow you to another machine or another browser, and clearing site data resets it to the default. It also means it applies before the app has loaded anything: a small script reads your stored choice and paints the page before the interface mounts, so you do not get a flash of the wrong palette on every load.

Contrast and accessibility

Every theme’s colour roles are checked against WCAG 2.2 AA contrast thresholds by an automated test, in both light and dark variants. The contrast test reports checked colour pairs that fall below those thresholds. A successful production build alone is not evidence that the test ran.

That covers colour contrast. It does not by itself make the whole product AA-conformant — keyboard reachability, focus visibility and screen-reader labelling are held to the same standard but are verified per surface, not by one test. If you hit something unusable, tell us; we treat it as a bug, not a preference.

For designers

The website and app share the Orneos brand palette, with automated checks for drift. Other themes remain separate appearance choices.
